One of *those* letters

In response to my Christmas letter, I received this from a college friend:

Your beautiful Christmas letter made me cry. I have always enjoyed your writing. I hope you are "doing something" with it.

Ahem.

I hope so, too.

(And yes, the note really included the quotation marks.)

Sometimes the best response is no response at all, right?

I should say you are! doing something with it.

I call this space something!

Yes indeed you are doing something with it.

writing works in mysterious ways. no need to answer the implied question, but the compliment is accurate, however phrased. :)

Yes, sometimes the best response is no response at all. I always think remarks like that reveal a lot about the person who makes them.

This made me laugh out loud. I would say, you are definitely doing something with it (with or without the quotes).

Send her a link to your blog :)

You ARE as pastor, aren't you? Writing sermons weekly as well as blogging? Duh?

Or, maybe she meant "DO something" (i.e. that book to write?) Funny, that was my first thought when I read her comment, as I assumed she knew about your blog etc. :c)

Ah, she is not aware of the blog, especially since my old blog contains a song about the time her kids gave LP head lice. But I did feel this minimized my sermon writing. And since she's in a tradition that vehemently opposes ordination of women, that probably explains why.

Either that or she's in a tradition that vehemently opposes proper use of quotation marks.

Laughing at Phantom's comment!

You could always send a photo of the letter to the "Blog" of "Unnecessary" Quotation Marks!

Oh, g-d, it HURT just to type in that title.

Does she need to be on your card list in 2009?
